Welcome Back to Physical Education

What has two thumbs and is ready for another great year of Physical Education? That’s right…Mr. Will! This year promises to be the best year of Physical Education yet. From familiar games and activities to brand new surprises, PE will be full of movement, learning and fun. Here are some things your child can look forward to this year.

Cool Bucks are Back!

That’s right Mr. Will is bringing back cool bucks. If your child brings home one of those awesome "Cool Bucks," it means they did something above and beyond. Students can spend their "Cool Bucks" at Mr. Will's Store. $1 buys you a sticker, $5 in cool bucks and you can buy a trip to Mr. Will's Prize Box. Students who save for a long time and earn $50 in cool bucks, will be treated to a Subway lunch from Mr. Will. Lastly dedicated students who save $100 in cool bucks will earn the pleasure of being P.E. Teachers for a day (They will get to choose the game, the teams, the rules, and the best part  is that Mr. Will must to do what they say.) As you can see it is a big deal to earn Cool Bucks, so be sure to ask your child what they did to "Be Cool" and bring home that hard-earned cash.

Awesome Anatomy
Back again this year for our student's in 4th and 5th Grades is our Awesome Anatomy Program. This program is designed to teach our students about basic human anatomy as well as some physiology, the five senses, hygiene, nutrition, and other very important aspects of our bodies.

Attire and Dress Code
I do not require Serendipity School students to change for P.E. All of our activities and games can be played in most normal attire. Having said that, good choices should still be made. Please do not send your child in their best attire. Clothes can get muddy, dirty, stained, or soiled during P.E., and it would be a shame if we ruined something nice. Also, open-toed shoes or sandals are not suitable footwear for P.E. Please make sure that your child has athletic shoes on P.E. Days. A lot of my students like to wear dresses and skirts. These are fine, however I do suggest that shorts or leggings be put on under the dress, just in case. Lastly, sunscreen is a must, especially in the warm months of August, September, March, April, May, and June. Be sure your child has put on some sunscreen before they come to school.

Our Annual Event
Everyone’s favorite week of the year, Bring Your Parents to PE Week is coming up soon. Mark your Calendars, and get ready to join your child in a week long celebration of Physical Activity. This year Bring Your Parents to PE will be held the week of September 29, 2014 - October 3, 2014. It is a great way to learn all about the things Serendipity School’s Physical Education Program offers to your child on a daily basis. Bring clothes you can move it, and be ready to sweat because there is no sitting around in Physical Education.
